Proximal Sphere

Back in March 2015, I learned how to use the Proximal effect in Cinema4D. This is a crucial effect used to “expose” a material on an object. This is great when you need to show an object in one state, like glassy red text, but at some point you’d like to “pass through” and make a secondary material visible.

I put together a quick demo of how a proximal can expose 2 different materials on 1 object. The end result was like an ‘infection’ passing through this red cell.

Here in After Effects, I added a color correction adjustment layer, and a camera lens blur to control the depth of field
