I was approached by a restaurant owner from Tucker, GA to produce a 10-second logo bumper for the end of his local commercial. The client emphasized heavily that he wanted graphics that seemed like they existed inside one of his massive stone ovens.
I started a rough draft for all the graphic elements with Illustrator, then I moved into After Effects to set up the basic arrangement. The spinning “grill” plate was made using Cinema 4D and color-balanced in Ae. The word “smokehouse” enters from behind the camera, followed by the letters BBQ revealed with a very hot burn-on procedural effect. Finally, the tagline is revealed with a similar left-to-right wipe. Real flame and spark footage is used throughout as well.
